Non-invasive PEMF technology for knee osteoarthritis
Forget pain. Walk & run again — with SwaKnee
SwaKnee applies pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy to the knee, designed to help reduce knee pain and support overall joint function in people living with knee osteoarthritis — without drugs or surgery.

What is SwaKnee?
A wearable knee applicator paired with a PEMF generator
SwaKnee combines a soft, biocompatible knee brace with a compact control unit. The brace holds electromagnetic coils over the knee; the control unit generates the low-frequency pulsed signal. It is intended to complement — not replace — the care advised by your clinician.
Drug-free
A non-pharmacological approach that does not rely on chemicals or medication, so it can sit alongside your existing routine.
Non-invasive
Worn over the knee. There are no needles, no incisions, and no need to remove clothing for the field to reach the joint.
Portable & rechargeable
A lightweight, battery-powered design intended for practical use at home or in a clinic, under appropriate guidance.
Who it is for
Built for patients and the professionals who support them
- Adults with knee osteoarthritis seeking a drug-free, non-invasive option to support day-to-day comfort and movement.
- Physiotherapists and clinicians looking to add PEMF-based support to a wider rehabilitation plan.
- Hospitals and rehabilitation centres evaluating adjunctive technologies for osteoarthritis care.
- Institutional buyers and distributors interested in an emerging Indian medical-device platform.

The components
Two working parts, one simple system
PEMF generator module
A compact control unit that produces the low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic signal. A one-click design keeps operation straightforward; a screen-equipped variant adds an adjustable interface. Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
Knee applicator (brace)
A soft, biocompatible knee brace with embedded electromagnetic coils that direct the field across the joint. Designed to be comfortable to wear and available in different sizes.

The PEMF principle
Low-frequency pulses, proposed to support the joint environment
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy has been studied for decades in physical medicine and rehabilitation. SwaKnee applies low-frequency pulses to the knee, which are proposed to influence local cellular activity and blood flow around the joint.
How you use it
Three steps to a session
Brace
Position the applicator around the affected knee and secure it comfortably. It can be worn over light clothing.
Switch on
Connect the applicator to the generator module and start a session with the one-click control.
Relax
Rest during the session for the duration advised by your healthcare provider, then switch off.
Session length and frequency should follow the advice of a qualified clinician and the device's instructions for use.
Potential benefits
What SwaKnee aims to support
These are the intended, investigational goals of the device. They describe what SwaKnee is designed to support — not a guaranteed outcome for every user.
Everyday comfort
Designed to support the management of knee discomfort associated with osteoarthritis, as part of a broader plan.
Movement & mobility
Aims to support knee range of motion and day-to-day function alongside exercise and physiotherapy.
A drug-free routine
Offers a non-invasive, non-pharmacological option that can complement other treatments your clinician recommends.
Evidence & development
Evaluated in a controlled clinical study
SwaKnee was assessed in a controlled clinical study conducted with the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, comparing a device group (n=40) with a comparison group (n=42) over 45 days. Across the figures below, the device group showed greater average improvement than the comparison group.
Questions
Frequently asked
What is SwaKnee?
SwaKnee is a non-invasive medical device for adults with knee osteoarthritis. It pairs a wearable knee applicator with a control unit that generates a low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) directed at the knee. It is intended to support the management of knee osteoarthritis alongside the care your clinician advises.
What is PEMF?
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field. It is a non-invasive approach that has been studied for decades in physical medicine and rehabilitation. SwaKnee applies low-frequency pulses to the knee; these are proposed to influence local cellular activity and blood flow around the joint.
Does SwaKnee cure osteoarthritis or regrow cartilage?
No. SwaKnee is not claimed to cure or reverse osteoarthritis or to regenerate cartilage, and it does not guarantee pain relief or remove the need for surgery. It is a supportive, drug-free option that is still under active clinical evaluation.
Is it safe, and are there side effects?
SwaKnee is designed to be non-invasive and drug-free. As with any electromagnetic therapy device, it should be used under appropriate guidance. Please consult a qualified clinician before use — particularly if you are pregnant or have an implanted electronic or metallic device — and follow the official instructions for use, which describe the applicable warnings and contraindications.
Who can use it?
It is intended for adults with knee osteoarthritis, and for clinicians, physiotherapists, hospitals and rehabilitation centres who wish to offer PEMF-based support. Whether it is suitable for you is a decision best made with your healthcare professional.
